Here’s the thing…
what if I said yes?
I’ve spent a lot of time trying to make my life prolific. Ambition can be a funny thing- a super power at times and a great weakness at others.
Aspiring for greatness is a virtue- but only when we let God define what is great. All too often I get caught up in my own ideals of greatness and completely miss out on what truly matters.
I miss out on the friendships, on the opportunities- on the peace, on the joy- because I’m stuck in the lie that I COULD NOT POSSIBLY find it here.
The same lie that tells me if I am still: if I am quiet: if I rest, I will be forgotten. Lost. Unseen. And I will not be provided for.
What if I said yes?
Yes to this life.
Yes to these people.
Yes to this cross.
Yes to these adventures.
What if I stopped running?
Stopped believing my mission was ~out there somewhere~
Stopped believing it was being withheld from me.
What if, when I let my life speak, it asked me a simple question?
What if? I said yes.
I wasn’t planning on coming home. I wasn’t planning on living across the street from my parents. I wasn’t planning on healing. I wasn’t planning on rest. I wasn’t planning on any of it.
But most of all, I wasn’t planning on it being a blessing. I wasn’t expecting to be well- truly well- when forced to let go of all my ideals.
Yet I AM well. Truly.
And so from now on I have only one plan:
SAY YES.
